Episode Transcript
[00:00:00] Speaker A: This is Glasgow in the good old days.
But now everything has changed and the entire city has become pixelated.
Pixelated.
We asked a guy who hates immigrants if it's the immigrant's fault.
[00:00:28] Speaker B: Aye, I think it's the immigrant's fault.
[00:00:33] Speaker A: And how has the city changed?
[00:00:35] Speaker B: Oh, the city's definitely changed.
Look at my face.
It's all pixelated.
[00:00:43] Speaker A: Pixelated.
[00:00:44] Speaker B: I grew up in the 90s.
There was nae crime, there was nae drugs.
And you could see people's faces without them being pixelated.
[00:00:58] Speaker A: Pixelated.
What would you say to the people who blame austerity, war and tax breaks for billionaires for ruining this once proud city?
[00:01:12] Speaker B: I think that sounds too complicated.
And they've all got the woke mind virus and there's an anti immigration influencer.
[00:01:25] Speaker C: Influencer.
[00:01:26] Speaker B: I think we should all unite and
[00:01:29] Speaker C: just blame it on people fleeing wars that we caused.
[00:01:33] Speaker B: Instead.
[00:01:33] Speaker A: At this point, our interview was abruptly halted as one of our cameramen stood in a dog jobby who couldn't see it because the dog shit was pixelated. Pixelated.
So on that bombshell, we got into a pixelated taxi to a pixelated airport and flew to the nearest city because no other city is crime, violence or immigration.
[00:02:09] Speaker B: And welcome to another episode of who wants to be a Facebook Racist?
With your host, Jeremy Clarkson.
Who wants to be a Facebook racist?
[00:02:23] Speaker A: Just
[00:02:27] Speaker B: the Internet was meant to be a library and now it's a piss d bookies in a small town sandwiched between a Greg's and a pawn shop.
Social media was meant to be about connecting with friends and now it's going for one more drink with a friend to casino at 4 or 5am as you gamble the last of your overdraft with everything on red.
Facebook especially was meant to be about exchanging ideas and opinions and now it has turned into the worst 90s game show you have ever seen.
Polluted with adverse and heat.
The dead Internet theory is becoming true as billionaire bought farms from Russia, China, Israel seek to sow division on social media to turn neighbor against neighbor and get everybody talking about immigration, immigration, immigration.
Rather than talk about the fact that billionaires are ruining the world and not paying their fair share.
They don't want you talking about the fact that that half of England's in drought right now, Europe's on fire and they want to build a million data centers.
Very thirsty data centers.
And I've noticed something really interesting and you call that radio has been investigating it and we have exposed the secret gaming technique that social media is using to give people a sense of fake connection dopamine hits and push them into talking about things that are nothing today with anything Chapter one Speculation the first thing you'll notice when you load up Facebook as a crime has been committed.
There might be an advert or two adverts, but the third thing you'll see is a crime has been committed.
It will be shared by someone like Glasgow Live or the sun and the headline will be deliberately vague because they want you to click the link for advertising money.
Nobody.
If you want to play this game properly then you should never ever read the article.
It may have information that goes against your confirmation bias.
So what you want to do is you read the headline and start to speculate.
You don't need any information other than crime has been committed.
It may be made out to look like it's happened locally when it's happened in a different country, but don't let that stop you having a good time.
In the comments you could say something really witty and original like doctors or engineers question mark.
Or you could go all in and say stop the boats. Or a really popular one is saying usual suspects just that it's not going to take you a long time to do it and everybody's going to think you're so original and witty and funny.
You may even have thought that you've came up with those slogans yourself through your own brain. Like you've had an original thought, you've had an epiphany of razor sharp whip.
But the truth is is that these slogans have been repeating over and over again for a sustained amount of time.
That you've now decided that that is
[00:07:09] Speaker D: what you are supposed to do because people are sheep.
[00:07:12] Speaker B: So you will follow them. Now these slogans come from the billionaire class who's making your life a living hell and making you want to play this stupid computer game.
But if you say any of those three things you will get about 100 likes, 33 from Chinese bots, 32 from Russian bots, and 29 from Israeli bots.
And then there'll be four random strangers from America who will also like will make you feel popular, it will make you feel connected, it'll make you feel intelligent, and it will give the illusion of having friends and a big thoughtful brain.
[00:08:06] Speaker A: Foreign
[00:08:09] Speaker B: Chapter 2 Never take accountability if you want to enjoy the racist Facebook computer game then you're going to need to throw logic out the window. Throw reason in the bin. Don't have any coherent joined up thoughts.
So for example, you may say something like every day I read about an immigrant committing A crime, you might say something like that.
And then the, the same article that you've commented on saying usual suspects turns out to be a white British male. It usually is.
Now in that circumstance, rather than saying, here, I got that wrong, you can't do that. You can't apologize, you can't, you can't back down, you need a doubledon. And even though it contradicts your earlier point, you can just say something like the only naming people if they're white and British, they would never name a Muslim.
[00:09:09] Speaker D: They've never named a Muslim in the history of newspapers.
[00:09:13] Speaker B: If it turns out to be a white British guy, which it normally is, statistically speaking, then what you could maybe do is say something like innocent until proven guilty because you don't believe that white British men would ever commit a crime.
That doesn't make sense. That doesn't go, it doesn't work for this game, for this computer game. If you want to play the racist Facebook computer game, you're going to need to, you're going to need to just forget about the fact that white British men commit crimes all the time and white British women.
So you want to say innocent until proven guilty because now you don't. This article that you thought proved your point now no longer proves your point. So it's fake news.
This guy's innocent until proven guilty.
You may also want to say, go the other angle, which is, yeah, he may have a white British name, but he may have converted to Islam.
Cuz a lot of people do that.
So you could say something like that. And obviously you may have been playing this computer game for so long that you believe that white British men are incapable of committing crimes. So in that case you can say something like, of all the things that never happened, this never happened the most.
Say that. Repeat after me. Of all the things that never happened, this never happened the most. Because obviously it's outrageous to think that a white British man would commit a crime.
Or.
Chapter 3 reject the evidence of your eyes.
So say for example, you've said innocent until proven guilty, or I don't believe
[00:11:03] Speaker D: this, this is fake news, or whatever.
[00:11:06] Speaker B: Or you may have said something like, in this day and age of mobile phones, why was there no footage
[00:11:16] Speaker D: and
[00:11:16] Speaker B: this, repeat after me and this day of mobile phones, why is there no footage?
And then annoyingly, someone turns up with footage of the white British male committing the crime, then at this point you need to go in a detective mode.
And that involves rejecting all evidence.
Everything that you see.
You can act like Colombo and say there's just one more thing. What happened before this man committed the crime, as if it's been cleverly edited to make a white. Maybe the white guy was.
[00:11:58] Speaker D: Must have.
[00:11:59] Speaker B: If a white guy's committing a crime, it must have been in self defense.
So go into detective mode and demand to see more footage.
You didn't think there was footage. You wanted footage, you got footage and you didn't like the footage. So now you need more footage.
Or you could just say it's AI Slop.
Fake news, AI Slop. You really need to avoid logic, reason.
It's just, just you need to ignore all that stuff if you want to play this game. You have got infinite lives in this computer game 24. 7. As long as you reject logic, reason and trying to have joined up thoughts. Just, just really hone in on your hatred, your daily hatred. Because your life is shit.
And the final chapter is to repeat slogans all the time.
You don't want to be having genuine conversations.
You know, I know that that's kind of what the freedom of speech thinks
[00:13:06] Speaker D: about, is an exchange of ideas.
[00:13:08] Speaker B: But you want to reject any idea that doesn't sort of fit into the nice little box of hatred that you've built around yourself.
And it's, it can be quite exhausting and exhilarating hating people you've never met all day, every day, as your life is systematically destroyed by the billionaire class.
But at least you're not talking about the Epstein files, which is interesting because one of the slogans that you should repeat is Protect our woman.
Protect our woman. The only reason that you're saying racist stuff on the Internet is because you want to protect are women.
Now one of the ways you can achieve that is by having a profile picture of Donald Trump because he tells it the way it is. And maybe someone like Andrew Tate, you know, people that have got a strong feminist background.
Just so people know that you, you're really being truthful when you say you care about women's rights.
Remember that time where Subway started doing halal? I read today that Blue Lagoon is saying they will do halal if requested. And people are losing their fucking minds over this.
And it's a strange thing that happens sometimes where as soon as you hear about halal meat, you become some sort of vegan animal rights activist.
And when you're talking of immigration, you become a female rights activist.
And that, that doesn't obviously fit in with your normal day to day chat, but like I said, this game is unlimited.
You've got unlimited lives as long as you Avoid logic, reason and embrace hypocrisy. Then you can play this game 24, seven all day, get that dopamine rush, get 100 likes from Chinese, Russian and Israeli bots, and, you know, just stay in the game, stay focused.
And also, I know that there's been people uniting the clans and there's been lots of reports coming out that most of them have beaten up, stopped, done terrible things to women and children, and they're part of your clan that you've united and obviously that's a bit annoying, but don't let that deter you. Just say something like, one bad apple doesn't spoil the fruit or whatever, something like that.
Even though that flies in the face of you saying things like send them all home, keyword being all.
And remember, at all times, if someone points out your lack of consistency and the way that you're not bothered about the Epstein fails, the way that you don't mind that Trump was convicted of assault, the way that you don't mind that Andrew Tate as being is wanted in multiple countries for his actions,
[00:16:14] Speaker A: just
[00:16:16] Speaker B: sidestep that issue and say something like, I'm not far right. Just right. Everyone's gonna love that. All your imaginary friends, all your imaginary friends from the bot farm will like that.
And, you know, maybe say, vote Reform, Vote restore.
Because those billionaires have definitely got your interests at heart as they take millions and millions of pounds from overseas to ruin the country that you think you
[00:16:50] Speaker D: love,
[00:16:57] Speaker B: Beat you hate.
[00:17:00] Speaker D: Deep down, you hate your country.
[00:17:03] Speaker B: But don't let that get in the way of playing
[00:17:08] Speaker D: the Facebook racist computer
[00:17:11] Speaker B: game that was Views from the Sea on. You call that radio Powered by our Patreons DS and the masters of I
[00:17:24] Speaker C: am Adam, Prince of Eternia and Defender.
[00:17:27] Speaker B: Why am I getting brought into the this?
There's a scandal. The scandal of the week is DF concerts.
Everyone's raging at DF concerts because the Bell did an expose on how they're not treating bands, artists, people in general.
[00:17:44] Speaker E: Right.
[00:17:44] Speaker B: By not paying them. Right? And it all started with this song.
That's a song called Dirty by Doss.
And in the article, it says somebody called Mark, who wanted to remain anonymous in case of repercussions.
I know everybody's messaging me, asking if it's me, if I'm Mark Mars, my name.
[00:18:21] Speaker E: Why?
[00:18:21] Speaker B: Why would I do that?
Why would I say, keep me anonymous because I'm scared of repercussions, and then tell them to use my real name when inverted commas.
And then people are saying, but that's something you would do.
Or it's a double bluff. They'll never expect you. It's no me.
I am not scared of any repercussions. What they going to do?
Ban my band for transmit?
So I'm going to tell you exactly how I feel about DF concerts.
[00:19:01] Speaker D: Was that
[00:19:05] Speaker C: it's Jeffrey Ellis.
It's time for your repercussions.
[00:19:12] Speaker B: I'm going to tell you exactly what I think a DF concerts behind a paywall.
Behind the paywall.
Patreon.com forward slash. You call that radio?
[00:19:28] Speaker D: You are tuned into YCT.
[00:19:34] Speaker B: Up next, boy George. Boy George.
[00:19:40] Speaker C: Boy.
[00:19:41] Speaker B: Am I getting pelters because of Boy George? I am getting pelters left, right and center. I am metaphorically chained to a radiator.
Before we go any further, I want to make it clear that
[00:20:00] Speaker E: the new
[00:20:00] Speaker B: song, if we can call it a song, he decided, if you don't know, he decided to make a pro genocide reggae song with the help of AI.
[00:20:14] Speaker D: So there's a.
[00:20:14] Speaker B: There's a lot wrong with the song and it's not a good song. There's nothing of merit to report on the new Boy George single.
However, I said I hang.
I know everybody thinks that I defending Boy George.
This isn't even a situation whereby, yeah, sometimes you've got to separate the art from the artist because I have different political beliefs.
I've never liked his art.
I seen Boy George once at Playground Festival.
We're backstage and he walked by and
[00:20:56] Speaker D: I went, there's Boy George.
[00:20:59] Speaker B: Had the hat on.
[00:21:01] Speaker D: There's Boy George. That's mad, innit? Boy George walking by.
[00:21:05] Speaker B: I didn't even watch his set.
I'm not a fan of the music and I'm definitely not a fan of the politics and I'm definitely not a fan of the pro Israel, anti Palestine reggae AI catastrophe.
But what happened was as he said that a sound guy deliberately messed with these. These monitor mics or something, which means he's got to go and see an ear doctor.
As somebody who had an amateur engineer absolutely blew my ears off before.
I don't want to name the engineer, I don't want to name the venue. Sometimes these things happen.
[00:21:56] Speaker D: But it was.
[00:21:57] Speaker B: We're at the sound check. I think the rest of my band
[00:22:00] Speaker D: already did their earplugs in.
[00:22:01] Speaker B: But we weren't even sound checking anything yet. We're still getting on the stage.
I felt like this kind of rumble of like a subway below me.
[00:22:10] Speaker D: And then I was little.
[00:22:11] Speaker B: We are nowhere near a subway. What is that? And it was something going Majorly wrong with the PA system.
And I feel that way. What was that? What was that?
[00:22:23] Speaker C: What was that?
[00:22:25] Speaker B: And the guy's like, oh, it's fine, I'll sort it. And then the next thing you hear is this high pitched.
And I had to do an album launch that night.
I could barely hear.
And I have a tinnitus ever since.
It's getting better. Either that I've just learned to ignore it, but it destroyed my sleep. It made Turing practically impossible.
And I've not been a fan of tinnitus in general, but the fact that
[00:23:02] Speaker D: it happened due to a mistake from a sound engineer.
[00:23:05] Speaker B: And then I'm seeing all these chats where there's actually sound engineers that I know, and everyone's having a big laugh about how the broke Boy George is hearing.
[00:23:18] Speaker D: And everyone thinks it's funny.
[00:23:20] Speaker B: You know what? It might be a wee bit funny. Maybe I was being emotional, maybe I was in my feels because I was like, I don't think we need to give sound engineers any more bad ideas.
Most sound engineers are lovely, but there's a few who aren't, and they've got plenty bad ideas of their own.
So I was just going to say, can we kind of slow down this whole, I don't like this guy. Let's just smash his Hearing it while he's on stage. It was just making me nervous. I was a bit triggered, I suppose.
So I said something like, can we know? Can we all make this a thing where we just do that? But then everybody's giving me pelters.
You know what?
Maybe quite rightfully so. Maybe quite rightfully so. Let's have a look at the comments.
So, first of all, Boy George says, tonight in Frankfurt, the big boys and the monitors on stage decided to sabotage my performance. The in ear monitors were so loud I could barely hear my voice. And when I asked them three times to turn it down, it just got louder. I've been doing this for a long time and I know the stink of sabotage.
I will need to see an ear
[00:24:34] Speaker D: doctor in London as my ears are short.
[00:24:36] Speaker B: Why a sad night?
[00:24:37] Speaker D: I think it should be, what a sad night.
[00:24:39] Speaker B: Thanks to the crowd for booing.
Welcome to the Lions Portal.
Right, I keep hearing about this Lionsgate
[00:24:48] Speaker D: Portal thing, so let's just figure out what that is.
[00:24:51] Speaker B: The Lionsgate Portal is a modern spiritual and astrological concept.
[00:24:54] Speaker D: Believers state that it opens a cosmic window for manifestation, deep reflection and spiritual awakening each year around.
I think that may be a Nazi thing. Not sure.
[00:25:05] Speaker B: I think AA has.
[00:25:09] Speaker D: Might be a Nazi Thing, because A is the H letter and it sort of means like, Heale Hitler or something.
[00:25:16] Speaker B: Can I have heard that before? Anyway, scientifically, no literal physical portal opens,
[00:25:21] Speaker D: but the date marks an annual astronomical alignment.
[00:25:24] Speaker B: Okay, Right. We can just ignore that for now.
So let's just put to the side the Lionsgate portal.
[00:25:33] Speaker D: We'll maybe do that another day. Let's put to the side AA being something to do with Hitler. Let's.
[00:25:40] Speaker B: I don't have time for all that today.
[00:25:43] Speaker D: Let's get back to let's make it be me.
Let's make it be me.
[00:25:48] Speaker B: Okay, so I said I've lost my hearing. That one of our album launches about
[00:25:52] Speaker D: a year or 10 or so. Literally, it's almost back to normal. I'm not a fan of Boy John
[00:25:57] Speaker B: Swords, nor his pro is genocide AI Reggae, nor even his radiator abductions.
[00:26:02] Speaker D: But let's not celebrate a sound guy. My people's here. Let's not make this a thing.
Obviously the comments didn't go so well for me.
[00:26:13] Speaker B: I think the first comment I got was, he thinks children should die, but
[00:26:17] Speaker D: let's not upset his ears. That's when I knew I was in trouble here.
[00:26:22] Speaker B: I'm not defending Boy George.
I don't like Boy George.
I don't like his politics.
[00:26:30] Speaker D: So, yeah, I'm already at this stage regretting saying anything.
[00:26:37] Speaker E: And
[00:26:40] Speaker B: Ian says, probably the any in
[00:26:43] Speaker D: your devices were hacked by Mossa
[00:26:47] Speaker E: We
[00:26:48] Speaker D: Charlie Kurt joke for the exploding unexploding microphone. Charlie cut joke there.
[00:26:56] Speaker B: Jake says his IEM receivers.
[00:26:59] Speaker D: Seriously doesn't have a volume control on it.
[00:27:01] Speaker B: There's going to be more technical comments like this. So I've never used in ear monitors before. I never had a shot.
[00:27:09] Speaker D: Never.
[00:27:10] Speaker B: I did look at them once, but
[00:27:11] Speaker D: they were too expensive.
[00:27:12] Speaker B: I've never wore them, so I wasn't aware of that.
[00:27:15] Speaker D: They could have just turned it down himself. So it looks like Boy George is just talking a lot of shit once again.
[00:27:21] Speaker B: And now I'm getting flung in the.
[00:27:24] Speaker D: Oh, the Boy George defender.
[00:27:28] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:27:28] Speaker D: What Rod says, I thought his ears were already shot because I. If he could hear his tuneless warbling, surely he'd have given up, hence using
[00:27:37] Speaker B: AI That's a good point. The AI doesn't even sound like him at all. I mean, people saying it's partially used
[00:27:43] Speaker D: by AI, but it's completely different voice. It sounds like a computer generated voice.
[00:27:50] Speaker B: Paul says, listen up, y'.
[00:27:51] Speaker C: All.
[00:27:51] Speaker B: It's a sabotage.
[00:27:52] Speaker D: I love the Beastie Boys reference.
[00:27:56] Speaker B: And Thomas says, it's a boo from Me too.
Yeah, the crowd.
[00:28:02] Speaker D: The crowd booed him.
[00:28:05] Speaker B: Stuart says, that's what happens when you don't do a sound check.
Quite a reasonable thing to say.
Apparently, Boy George hasn't turned up for
[00:28:14] Speaker D: a sound check and that's why there was issues on stage.
[00:28:17] Speaker B: I would like to point out that I lost my hearing during a sound check. Well before the sound check even began. That's how early hours I turned up with the bass amp, the drum kit, the fuchsabang. I'm there early.
As Nicky says, some of his mixes were not that bad, though.
[00:28:38] Speaker D: I remember Boy George being an Ibiza DJ for a while. I do have a recollection of that. I can't comment on whether it was good or not.
[00:28:47] Speaker B: Chris says, do they really want to hurt me? Yes, Boy George with volume.
[00:28:54] Speaker D: Can I argue with that?
[00:28:57] Speaker B: John says, what on earth do you
[00:28:59] Speaker D: have against radiator abductions?
[00:29:03] Speaker B: Well, I didn't know what he caught. All I remember is they abducted somebody
[00:29:06] Speaker D: and there was something to do by radio.
[00:29:09] Speaker B: So I don't have anything.
I do have. Don't abduct people and chain them in radios. I think, you know, he's making anti. Anti peace reggae, pro war reggae.
I think most people are against genocide at this stage, surely.
And I think most people are against abducting people and chaining them to.
[00:29:31] Speaker D: Every day.
[00:29:33] Speaker B: Billy says, I'll take things that never happened for $500. Bob.
I don't know if Bob is saying that it was me, that I didn't get tinnitus for 18 months.
My ears were.
They're still.
They get.
[00:29:52] Speaker D: Every day I get stronger, though.
But.
[00:29:55] Speaker B: Yeah, but. But Boy George's might be made up, which. Which by this point I'm starting to come to the conclusion that it has.
[00:30:01] Speaker D: Because my friend Mark says his volume
[00:30:05] Speaker B: control on him, though.
[00:30:05] Speaker D: Why not just turn that up or down?
[00:30:07] Speaker B: I'm doubly skeptical of anything he says
[00:30:09] Speaker D: at the minute, though. He's clearly enjoying the attention and that's just sad.
[00:30:15] Speaker B: So having never had any monitors, I didn't know that if it was that
[00:30:19] Speaker D: bad, they could just turn it down. So, yeah, it sounds like he just
[00:30:22] Speaker B: made all this shit up and I'm getting the blame.
Jason says, the bigger boys did it.
Colin says, are the his in ears
[00:30:33] Speaker D: glued in and the volume control and receiver glued to Max or something.
And Cow Daily says, and that was Radio Abductions in the Dark by the Incredible String Band.
Nice John Peel reference there.
[00:30:49] Speaker B: And the comments go on and on. Kind of like. It's kind of like that's the kind of the. The general theme is that making Boy George jokes, which I'm finding I'm no sticking up for Boy George. The guy, fuck him.
[00:31:05] Speaker A: Him.
[00:31:06] Speaker B: His politics are shite and his art is shite.
He does radiator abductions and in all likelihood he has had a shocker of a gig and everyone's booed him and then he's blamed the Indian monitors that he could control himself.
So that guy.
And I kind of want to see
[00:31:34] Speaker D: me retract what I said. I'll keep up there because the comments are quite funny.
[00:31:38] Speaker B: But, yeah, I have no sympathy for Boy George, but let's not give the sound engineers any more bad ideas and
[00:31:52] Speaker D: how to hurt musicians on stage.
[00:31:57] Speaker B: I know that there's musicians that have hurt sound engineers on stage, but we're better when we work as a team. And I suppose my final thought is.
[00:32:06] Speaker D: Because I've never ever spoke about the incident that messed with my hearing before.
[00:32:13] Speaker B: But that was 20 years, probably about 18 years I've been performing live and
[00:32:20] Speaker D: I would go to raves and festivals
[00:32:23] Speaker B: and it's only in the last few
[00:32:25] Speaker D: years that would even sometimes put in
[00:32:27] Speaker B: earplugs and eventually caught up with me
[00:32:30] Speaker D: in the end because of a mistake.
[00:32:33] Speaker B: So we don't have any sponsors or any funding or any adverts on. You call that radio. But if there's an earplug company out
[00:32:42] Speaker D: there that wants to give me a sponsorship, then I'd maybe consider that one, because I do think it's important now,
[00:32:50] Speaker B: in hindsight, since it affected me personally,
[00:32:54] Speaker D: I just pure ignored everybody for 20 years.
[00:32:58] Speaker B: So, anyway, that.
[00:32:59] Speaker D: That.
[00:33:00] Speaker B: That is it.
[00:33:00] Speaker D: That's. That's it.
[00:33:02] Speaker B: Yo, this is Charlie tuna from Jurassic
[00:33:03] Speaker C: 5, live and direct here in Glasgow, Scotland. And you call that radio.
[00:33:09] Speaker B: And that's why everybody hates Boy George.
Up next, we have the wholesome story of a man who kept 5,000 pairs of solar eclipse sunglasses in boxes in his garage since 1999, much to the disdain of his wife.
Well, it's been a good week for selling solar eclipse sunglasses, nearly 30 years later.
And I'm joined with a man who's currently having the last laugh, selling each pair at a 500% profit. We're joined by Daryl from a small town in Perthshire called Calendar. Hello, Daro.
[00:33:54] Speaker E: Hello.
[00:33:55] Speaker B: You called out radio. Hi, Daryl.
First question, has the wife forgiven you since you've sold all your stock in the last 48 hours?
[00:34:07] Speaker E: She hated they bloody boxes. She said, daryl, get they bloody boxes in this skip. But I told her that there would one day be another eclipse. And here we are to wait seven years later. I was right. She was wrong. I'm always right.
[00:34:23] Speaker B: Okay, so are you looking forward to the eclipse tonight?
I hope you've kept a couple of spare pairs for you and the wife to enjoy tonight's astronomical fireworks in the sky.
[00:34:40] Speaker E: Nah, son, I can't be bothered with the eclipses and the moon and all that shite.
I'll be shutting my curtains at 6 o' clock and opening them once everything gets back to normal. I hate the moon and all that stuff.
[00:34:52] Speaker B: You hate the moon?
What do you like, Daryl?
How do you like to unwind?
[00:34:59] Speaker E: I'm a data center guy.
[00:35:01] Speaker B: A data center guy.
[00:35:03] Speaker E: I a data centre guy.
[00:35:07] Speaker B: What do you mean by you're a data centre guy?
[00:35:12] Speaker E: I love a data centre. Me, I'm a data centre guy.
[00:35:16] Speaker B: But what could you love about a data centre?
There are protests up and down Scotland due to them being an eyesore and ruining the scenery of our great nation.
[00:35:31] Speaker E: I don't like mountains and lochs and all that pish. Give me a good sturdy data center any day of the week.
[00:35:38] Speaker B: Daro, I'm sorry if you don't mind this question, but by any chance, have you invested in data centers?
[00:35:45] Speaker E: I have indeed. And I'm not gonna have to wait 27 years for the Cha Ching to babbing.
[00:35:53] Speaker B: What about the environmental dangers and the fact that most of the UK is in a drought right now and these data centers will be using up even more water at an unprecedented scale?
[00:36:07] Speaker E: I'm a data center guy. I'm not into that woke stuff. I don't drink water.
Give me a can of Fanta any day of the week.
[00:36:16] Speaker B: Well, I'm quite surprised you're the first
[00:36:18] Speaker D: person I've actually heard this.
[00:36:22] Speaker B: Pro data center.
Would you want one built next to you?
[00:36:28] Speaker E: Everyone protesting a bloody snowflake turning your
[00:36:32] Speaker B: beautiful view of Callender, which is a lovely town. I've been there before.
Turning. Would you want one right next to you? Turning your view into a building site?
[00:36:42] Speaker E: I enjoy the gentle purr of manufacturing and construction.
[00:36:47] Speaker B: The gentle purr.
So there's no concern at your end about the noise, the pollution or the wildlife ecosystems being displaced?
[00:36:59] Speaker E: I'm not into nature that much. I'm a data center guy. Animals die every day. It's a circle of life.
And data centers can be quite noisy. But no more noisy than the birds chirping and they will be dead. So it kind of evens out.
[00:37:16] Speaker B: Is there any kind of fear at your end that these data Centers are going to prop up a dystopian mass surveillance at all.
[00:37:25] Speaker E: Freedom of speech. Sorry, wrong one. What's the opposite of that? If you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to fear.
[00:37:31] Speaker B: I still can't. I still can't believe that you're. You're pro data center. I mean, is it. Is it purely about the money?
[00:37:39] Speaker E: Daryl, I'm a data center guy.
[00:37:42] Speaker B: I know that you say that you're a data center guy, but what. Is there anything that the data centers are going to benefit a typical Scottish person?
[00:37:53] Speaker E: Well, with AI data centers, you can Google information now, say you want to search where the nearest estate is for a decent pheasant hunt. Now you just Google it and it tells you.
[00:38:04] Speaker B: But you could just use Google.
[00:38:07] Speaker D: You could just.
[00:38:08] Speaker B: You could do that before we Google, obviously, albeit without the AI, but you could just Google it.
[00:38:14] Speaker E: Yeah, but you can make memes now, like putting somebody's head on another person's body and things like that make me laugh.
[00:38:20] Speaker B: But you could do that before as well with Photoshop.
[00:38:23] Speaker E: I'm a data center guy. What can I say?
[00:38:29] Speaker D: He's hung up.
[00:38:32] Speaker B: That was Daryl from Calendar. He's a data center guy.
[00:38:39] Speaker D: This is Views from the Sea on. You call that radio? And yeah, that was recorded on the day of the solar eclipse.
I actually went to witness the eclipse on the Isle of Inverkethke with a view from the sea and not much happened, if I'm being honest.
But it was a really weird energy with all the birds and, yeah, it was pretty much just affected the birds. It was the. Our feathered friends, the ducks, the swans, the sparrows, the magpies, the gulls, all just kind of ran away and hid for a few about 10 minutes, 15 minutes, and it got quite dark all
[00:39:24] Speaker B: of a sudden, but then again I got light again.
[00:39:28] Speaker D: But living in Scotland in the summertime, that happens quite a lot.
So on one hand I was disappointed that we didn't really get a good eclipse here, but on the other hand, I'm kind of quite happy that we live in a country full of solar eclipses day after day and night after night.
So he's just got a. You know, he can be sad that we didn't get a good eclipse, but you can also be happy that we get them all the time.
[00:40:00] Speaker B: All the time.
[00:40:02] Speaker D: But if, if any, if any, people in space who design the eclipses listening, the feedback I would give is maybe
[00:40:11] Speaker B: do it earlier on in the day,
[00:40:13] Speaker D: so the minute it comes back on
[00:40:15] Speaker B: bright, it will seem better.
[00:40:18] Speaker D: I would say that I would also recommend having less clouds in the sky if you are going to do it again.
But you know.
[00:40:27] Speaker B: But that's.
[00:40:28] Speaker D: That's my review of the eclipse. That's part two of a three part series. The first part you might remember from 1999 and the next one will be in the year 2090.
So that's something to look forward to on. You call that radio?
It's been a.
It's been quite a busy summer. Not as busy as previous years with there's been a lot less festivals from a personal point of view, but there's been lots of stuff happening.
[00:40:55] Speaker C: The.
[00:40:56] Speaker D: Just this weekend we had the amazing goddy Duncan and Maima Mero doing a gig for us on the Isle of Bute, which was amazing shout outs to the crew at the Anchor for looking after us.
And the week before that we had Seren all the way from Mexico and Merrill Folk. Both those interviews are available on previous audio podcast interviews, probably the last two that are on this list. So go, go back and listen to them. They were both amazing as. As were all the acts on. On the night and yeah, so go and do that.
Coming up next, we're going back to Sokos. We're going back to Str The Shire with the best band in Ayrshire, Ocean Views, a brilliant young up and coming indie rock and roll band. They're absolutely amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing them. They've got such a good energy about them and they are going to have support from Sevka and this incredible electro songstress who makes kind of improv, pop, trip hop.
Improv? Did I say improv? Yeah, without just having a loop pedal. A stunning voice and a loop pedal. And we've got some extra guests to announce, but tickets are on sale now. I'm giving you some heads up now because tickets been on sale today and the last three events we've done in the Seven Sisters at so Close has
[00:42:25] Speaker B: sold out well in advance as in September 11th.
[00:42:29] Speaker D: The date might help, but I'll put this. I'll put a link in the description. Got a schedule.
[00:42:34] Speaker B: Ocean Views and Sevca live in Salt.
[00:42:37] Speaker D: Cause it's gonna be a good night. So I'll hopefully see you there.
And what else is there to say? Yeah, there's a new Jackal trades album on the way. I might even just finish with a Jackal trade song if that's all right with you. Are we exclusive for the audio podcast listeners? It's called Elevator and Repair, which was initially going to be the name of the Jack of Trades album until I seen the disappointment in my friend's face as I told them that was going to be the name. So I've got a better name now and the song might not make honors a sense because like all Jack o' Trade's albums, it's going to be a concept album. It will tell a story from start to finish. But I thought, I thought why not, why not finish on a wee. A wee exclusive for you guys to. To get your ears around.
[00:43:27] Speaker B: I'm hoping the debt will. The deadline for the album to be
[00:43:30] Speaker D: finished is the 8th of September so
[00:43:33] Speaker B: I hope that I'll have done all
[00:43:34] Speaker D: my bits by the 8th of September and then maybe start working on a
[00:43:40] Speaker B: music video, some music videos and maybe
[00:43:43] Speaker D: even a lunch date as well. Potentially I've not done a light a proper live guys but maybe do that. I'm also working on a book and
[00:43:53] Speaker B: all the gigs that we do and
[00:43:55] Speaker D: also the Secret Animal Garden party was. Was amazing shows to Tom for having us.
All the artists were incredible and we just put in that free party for Kyle and for you guys and yeah, it was great.
[00:44:11] Speaker B: So the only, the only way that
[00:44:13] Speaker D: we can do all these things is because of the patrons. So if you do enjoy the show, please consider joining us over there.
Patreon.com ucallthatradio and that's where you'll find out first the exclusive gigs, free parties and bonus material and guest lists and sometimes restaurant vouchers. There's also a little WhatsApp group that you can join as well.
[00:44:40] Speaker B: So yeah, thank you to everyone who supports.
It's not you call it radio is
[00:44:45] Speaker D: only possible because of you. So I just wanted to say thank you as always and let's just finish my wee jackal trade song called Elevator and Repair. I'll see you soon.
[00:44:54] Speaker E: Bye.
